Hey, I’m Heidiβ€”the creepy, kooky, mysterious mind behind π–π–ˆπ–šπ–—π–˜π–Šπ–‰π–ˆπ–—π–Šπ–†π–™π–Žπ–”π–“π–˜π–

From a young age, I’ve always had a vivid imagination. I still remember crafting a robot from cereal boxes, complete with bottle cap eyes and loo roll arms!Β

My love for drawing really took off in primary school, fueled by my obsession with anime like Sailor Moon, PokΓ©mon, and Dragon Ball Z. Whenever I had a spare moment, I was doodling away.

Though I was initially hesitant about digital illustrations, getting my iPad last year turned out to be a game changer. Now, I find myself drawing or brainstorming project ideas almost every nightβ€”99.9% of which lean toward the horror genre!

I’m excited to see where this creative journey leads me. I can’t wait to share my passion for blending creativity with horror, gothic, and dark elements.

Each of my hand-painted pieces is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation, ensuring that every design is original and special.

1. What inspires your art?
My inspiration comes from a mix of horror, gothic/alternative aesthetic but with a cute twist. I love incorporating elements of horror icons with a fantasy themeΒ into my work.
2. How would you describe your artistic style?
I’d say my style is a blend of dark, creepy, whimsical but colorfulΒ all at once!
3. What is your creative process like?
With anything I do, whether it's a digital illustrationΒ or a hand painted piece the entire design process starts with my iPad.
I'll brainstorm an idea and do a rough sketch of it in Procreate.
Then I play with colors, what will work - what won't.Β And for an indecisive mind this can take a while.
Then once I'm happy with the design I'll put it into action! Depending on the piece and size, some things may take a few hours to finish - others, weeks!
4. What mediums do you prefer to work with?
iPad Pro + Apple PencilΒ
Procreate is the app I use for all of my work (it is a once off payment of $20AUD)
Canvas
Acrylic Paints
Posca Pens
5. Can you tell us about a memorable project you’ve worked on?
Oh boy... there's been a few - but the main one I remember working on was a birthday present, and it was a poster I was making of their favorite horror movie "The Thing" [1982]
The amount of attempts, designs, ideas I ended up doing was almost close to 20... I was pretty happy with the end result which ended up being simple but captured good elements of the movie and the recipient was over the moon - so very rewarding!Β
7. What do you hope to achieve with your art?
I hope to inspire people to go out of their comfort zone andΒ remind everyone thatΒ it's never too late to fulfil a dream - you've just got to start!
8. What advice would you give to aspiring artists/people who haven't drawn or been creative before?
Don't give up and keep trying!Β
Find a niche that you feel comfortable with and keep at it - like anything, practice makes perfect and don't be scared to go out of your comfort zone!Β
9. What’s next for you?
Well.. I'm launching this website on HALLOWEEN 2024 which I'm super excited about!
Hoping to go to markets/exhibits to showcase and sell my work in person - to see someone happy with a piece I've made would be pure serotonin.
I have got some items launching soon - including enamel pins, stickers and apparel.Β
